I think they need to do everything possible to stimulate this area for growth and keep small businesses moving along. They are the life blood of our community.

Given the horror stories I have heard and the one I personally experienced, I would stay far, far away from any dealings with Bank of America. That institution is not about "helping"anyone. especially small business!!

It is good that the government is stepping to infuse cash into these programs that are aimed at small businesses but unless the banks take it upon themselves to start taking risks and offering much needed cash for small businesses it will take some time to really turn around.

What has happened is that all of the people that qualified for home loans for people with bad credit are now going into default on their loans. In the last 2 years, the entire housing industry has seen major declines in home values due to the huge rise in defaults. Once you can teach yourself that you can handle the responsibility, then you can consider a home loan. In general, currently, banks who are issuing home loans are looking for someone with a credit score above 700.

No surprise here considering that the banks are just not lending money to viable American Small Businesses. We applied for a $35,000 line of credit, personally guaranteed and co-signed by one of our millionaire partners and was still denied because we have been in business for 5 years without any credit history. We have financed everything ourselves and need capital to continue and take salaries. We have viable products and customers, but that doesn't matter. Our energy saving and green products are also all MADE IN THE U.S.A., and now we have to close and lay everyone off. More business for our overseas competitor!!

This is great change, but in reality it barely touches the amount of financing that needs to be dumped into the economy to properly weight the economic scale. The dramatic oversaturation of the real-estate lending market that has taken place over the past 20 years has sufficated business. We need major funds and programs that can sustain intellectual property from failed ventures and spur bids for the patents and other valuable assets when businesses undergo dissolution.

Until we revive our historical economic value creation engine, we will continue to suffer the effects of an improperly balanced economy. Our only other hope is to catch a draft horse in the global race.
